When you get to the waterfall, you can refresh yourself in the natural pool, so swimsuits will come in handy! The tour will continue with a visit to the local village lying in the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the process of coffee farming and guide you through the preparation of coffee from a bean to a cup. Sing and dance along with the Chagga people as they are grinding, roasting and boiling the beans. When the coffee is ready, villagers will serve lunch - a national Chagga meal.

This full-day adventure begins with a scenic drive towards the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at Materuni Village, you’ll be welcomed by your local Chagga guide who will lead you through this charming mountain community. The fresh air and stunning views of the surrounding hills and plantations set the tone for the day.
From the village, you’ll set off on a gentle hike through tropical vegetation, coffee and banana farms, and fruit trees such as avocados, mangos, and lemons. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories about the Chagga people’s traditions, farming methods, and daily life.
The trail leads to the breathtaking 80-meter-high Materuni Waterfall, one of the tallest in the Kilimanjaro region. Here, you can relax, take beautiful photos, and cool off with a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear pool beneath the falls.
Returning to the village, you’ll be invited to join an authentic coffee-making experience. From picking and peeling the beans to roasting, grinding, and brewing them, you’ll take part in each step while enjoying the lively songs of the Chagga people. You’ll then sip your own freshly brewed cup of organic coffee.
The experience is completed with a traditional Chagga lunch, giving you a true taste of local cuisine.
